ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Star City Motor Madness is organizing a two-day event aimed at raising money for the Virginia Museum of Transportation as well as various nonprofit groups.
A casual car exhibition and gathering will be held at the Virginia Museum of Transportation on Friday, June 27th from 5 PM to 9 PM.
The event will include meals served by Dale’s Diner/Kenney Burgers food truck and performances by Aaron & The Beaux Ties band. Beverages such as beer and wine will be provided. Attendees can explore the entire museum, which includes exhibits like the Auto Gallery featuring the renowned J-611 streamlined steam locomotive. Admission tickets may be purchased upon arrival at standard prices. Special complimentary parking has been reserved near the museum specifically for vehicles showcased publicly. Cars not participating in the show should use alternative parking spots.
A special event happening just once on Friday involves the arrival of 120 vehicles taking part in the yearly gathering. Great Race The "Great Race," an 8-day event featuring 120 vintage automobiles traveling from Minnesota to South Carolina, plans to spend a night in Roanoke. Participants are expected to arrive at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke beginning around 4:15 p.m.
The Star City Motor Madness Car and Truck Show is scheduled for Saturday, June 28 from 10 AM to 4 PM at 706 S Jefferson Street.
More than 300 vehicles are anticipated along with an extensive array of food and merchandise booths.
The two-day event will proceed regardless of weather conditions, with Saturday's car show being complimentary for viewers.
Berglund Automotive is the main sponsor of the event. They are accompanied by Southern Team Auto Mall, Grand Home Furnishings, Lanford Brothers Construction, six local car clubs, and many other enterprises.
