According to the CDRA, new telephone numbers are in greater demand and the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) approved the implementation of the new 748 area code to overlay the existing 970 region. The CDRA stated that widespread implementation of the new area code won’t start until sometime after late 2026. Nonetheless, beginning July 7, individuals within the 970 area code overlay zone might receive numbers featuring the new 748 area code upon requesting new services or adding extra lines.
