CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — On Tuesday evening, U.S. Route 50 West was briefly closed in Clarksburg following an incident where authorities reported a car crashed into a Jersey barrier and then struck another vehicle.
Based on the Harrison County 911 Log, around 7:58 p.m., emergency services received notification of a collision involving two vehicles with unspecified injuries close to the 2nd Street exit off U.S. 50 West.
News Channel 12 dispatched a journalist to the location where it was discovered that both cars involved in the collision were damaged. The first vehicle, identified as a sedan, was observed pointing in an opposite direction from what would be normal for traffic flow. Meanwhile, the second car—a minivan—showed extensive harm to its rooftop area along with significant shattering of the front window glass.
The reporter also noted at the scene that one of the vehicles’ wheels and shocks had broken off and were embedded into a speed limit sign in the area and was surrounded by a large amount of debris.
Two ambulances from the Harrison County Emergency Medical Services were seen at the location; however, according to 911 authorities, all individuals present declined transportation.
By 8:40 p.m., U.S. Route 50 has been opened again in the region.
The crews from the Clarksburg Fire Department, Clarksburg Police Department, and Harrison County EMS were dispatched to the scene of the incident.
